Vision and
Philosophy

Educational Philosophy |
|
All students have a desire
to learn about themselves and the world around them. The goal of education should be to
facilitate students’ needs to be educated in an environment that is academically
engaging, caters to the different learning modalities, utilizes a variety of
strategies and skills, and encourages students to be active participants in
the learning process. This is
how we can successfully prepare our students today to be powerful,
productive, and successful citizens. |
|
Media Center Philosophy |
|
The media center is a
centralized collection of a wide variety of print and non-print materials
selected to support the instructional program and meet the educational, social,
vocational, aesthetic, and personal needs of all patrons, especially the
students. The media center
strives to enrich students’ lives through the resources available in its
quest to encourage students to be both life-long learners and life-long readers. |
|
Media Center Vision |
|
The media center exists to
aid students and other patrons in their pursuit of education and to help
teachers carry out the necessary requirements according to the
curriculum. The media center is
an open and flexible facility welcoming individuals, small groups, and entire
classes to come do research, browse, learn media skills, view visuals, and
prepare learning and instructional materials. |
|
Goals |
|
The goals of the school
library media center will be to make information available to every student,
teacher, administrator, and parent connected to the school. In order to encourage patrons
to utilize the media center and its resources, they must view the media
center as a welcoming place. To
increase the number of people who use the media center and to increase
circulation, I plan to: & Offer extended hours several times a week & Advertise new books and resources & Encourage collaboration, especially with
connections teachers & Decrease barriers to access |
