AASL 4

AASL Standard 4:  Program Administration

School library media candidates administer the library media program in order to support the mission of the school, and according to the principles of best practice in library science and program administration.

ProjectOrder

Summary:  The order required students to choose an objective, create an order of materials that support the objective, prepare a presentation to justify selection choices, and create a checklist of each step of the ordering process.  This project was a group collaboration; my group consisted of Donna Ahlrich, James Brown, Roxy Warren and myself.

Justification:  In developing our order, I and my group-mates selected, analyzed and evaluated a variety of resources to meet a new curricular need   (Managing information resources:  selecting, organizing, using).

ProjectProgram Development and Evaluation Plan

Summary:
The PDEP included the creation of goals and objectives to improve the media program, a clear statement of the media center's philosophy and mission statement, an explanation of how budgets, committees, and personnel will be managed, and a plan for evaluating the media program.  This project was a group collaboration; I worked with Donna Ahlrich, Aaron Lines,  and Julie Payne.

Justification:
Our PDEP includes policies and procedures that support the mission of the school and addresses specific needs of the library media program.  This PDEP also provides for collaboration with teachers and administrators, and an active Media Committee,  so that this Plan aligns resources, services and information literacy standards with the school's goals and objectives.
