Standard 2: Teaching and Learning

School library media candidates model and promote collaborative planning with classroom teachers in order to teach concepts and skills of information processes integrated with classroom content. They partner with other education professionals to develop and deliver an integrated information skills curriculum. Candidates design and implement instruction that engages the student’s interests, passions, and needs which drive their learning.

Mastery of Standard 2:

The Instructional Design Project promotes information skills learning for the entire community of learners. The media specialist develops lessons that teach the teachers instructional methodologies.

The Group Unit Project provides collaborative planning between the media specialist and teacher to integrate information literacy in the curriculum. The media specialist will teach information skills and research strategies.

The I-Search Collaborative Project encourages collaborative planning between media specialist and classroom teacher to design effective lesson plans . The lessons teach information skills, and authentic assessment.
