Martial arts uniforms follow a very generic sizing system based on height, weight, and waist measurement. The following criteria are far from exact; consider them guidelines only when selecting a uniform size. Typically, a martial arts uniform bought retail will cost from $40 - $60. Our club purchases uniforms at a considerable discount from retail price ($23), but in exchange for this we cannot order custom sizes. There are specialty companies that can provide you with tailored uniforms, but you will have to make your own arrangements. Expect to pay full retail plus a premium for this. Not everyone's height and weight fall neatly into the categories below. Always go with your largest measurement when selecting a uniform. For instance, if you are 5' 10" and weigh 190 pounds, order a size 5. You want a uniform that fits you loosely and does not bind your limbs
when you perform techniques. If you are on the cusp between sizes,
order the larger one and have it taken in if necessary.
Note: Uniform sizes both greater than 6 and smaller than 3 are available. |
