Areas in which research is done

Curriculum design to enhance technological problem solving is the primary focus for my research and teaching at UGA. My research on the critical issues and problems in technology education identified curriculum design themes as one of the greatest needs for the field. I have developed an approach to the curriculum that is unifying the field by creating a paradigm shift in the way technology educators approach the subject. My research has been directed at the development of mental methods of inquiry (thinking strategies) used in solving technological problems. As a logical extension to the mental methods approach and as a way to engage teachers and students in global awareness issues my research and work on appropriate technology has served to expand the curriculum impact and foster greater diversity consciousness.
