| The area marine scientist, Dr. Loggers, just completed a research study about Fibropapilloma tumors, a disease plaguing green sea turtles, but spreading to other sea turtle species. Although the cause of the tumors is not certain, it is thought that a virus may be the source of the illness. The disease has been documented and found in turtles off the coasts of Barbados, Florida, and Hawaii. Dr. Loggers, upon inspecting turtles in the Fanny Beach area, has concluded that the disease does not appear to be plaguing the Fanny Beach area turtle population. |

| Local hotels are raving about booming success in the Fanny Beach area. Since the opening of two new hotels in the last 3 years, there has been a large increase in tourists visiting the Fanny Beach area. Among the most popular tourist events are the Moonlight Luau and the Late Night Coastal Scavenger Hunt. While parents enjoy the Luau, kids can enjoy the scavenger hunt. One other beachfront hotel is set open next summer. |
