command center
The Best Friends "command center" in Tylertown comprises two picnic tables covered from above but exposed to the elements on the sides. The site director is usually seated at one bench and various volunteers and staff meet with him or her throughout the day, usually on an informal basis, when they have questions or concerns. Seen here are Russ, Francis, Silva and Ross. The clinic is in the background.
The work of the rescue facility is done by a combination of Best Friends staff and volunteers. The Camp Director oversees the operation of the facility and coordinates the work of the people (both staff and volunteer) who have certain key "jobs" at the site.
Foster transport (video)
The Camp Director, or someone working closely with them, also coordinates animal placement in foster homes. In the video at right, a group of dogs is loaded into a bus chartered by a rescue group. Each dog will be placed in a foster home.
